North Arlington. – The borough’s new ambulance made its debut at the Memorial Day Parade last Monday.
The brand new, state-of-the-art ambulance is all electronic and boasts the latest in medical equipment and radio communications. It runs on a diesel engine.
The ambulance replaces one that that was nearly 8 years old according to Emergency Management Services Chief Tony Mondaro.
With the addition of the new ambulance the borough now has four ambulances to serve the community.
Mayor Peter Massa said the addition of a new ambulance is important to helping maintain the health and well being of the people of the community. “The men and women of our EMS team and the NA Volunteer Emergency Squad do a terrific job responding to people in need of medical attention and the council and I want to make sure they have the best equipment we can afford to make their job easier,” said Massa.
The new ambulance was purchased with a bond and cost $176,000 to purchase and an additional $15,000 to outfit, according to Mondaro.
